So, my 21 Day Fix came in the mail yesterday and I am starting it today. Although, technically, it’s going to be a 20 day fix, because I leave for SXSW on the 5th and won’t be able to do it that day. But whatever. 20 days is good enough!
I am always weary of these kinds of things, but I looked through it all last night and figured out how much of each type of food I am allowed to eat each day and all that jazz. Honestly, it is a decent amount of food, and I overeat like crazy. So, it means something that I say that.
Here are my meals for today (Day 1):
Breakfast: Shakeology. Mind you, this was my first time having shakeology… I mixed it with almond milk. My icemaker is broken, so I didn’t have ice. Honestly, not really a fan. But, it’s tolerable. I had the strawberry vegan one today. I am going to try the chocolate one tomorrow. Maybe I will like that better.
Snack: Blueberries, Grapes, & Strawberries.
Lunch: Salad (Romaine, Cucumbers, Tomatoes, Goddess Dressing*) and Tuna.
Snack #2: Pita & Hummus.
Dinner: Salmon & Veggies (Probably Green Beans)
Dessert/Snack: Berries and Wine*!
Now, you’ll notice two asterisks in that description. First of all, as far as the salad is concerned, 21 Day Fix has certain types of “approved” salad dressings. Goddess Dressing isn’t one of them, but to be fair, I didn’t know that when I went shopping and that dressing is supposed to be pretty healthy, so I don’t care. Also, this is one of my few gripes with the program so far- I am only allowed one orange container per day. The orange containers, for seeds and oils, are TINY. I know this is a small complaint, but I wish I could have my salad dressing AND my pumpkin seeds, na’mean? But, whatever. I digress.
On to asterisk number two. Wine. Now, not to sound like an alchy, but when I heard that I was allowed to have wine and chocolate on this diet, I was like YES. A DIET FOR ME! Turns out you are allowed to have 12 ounces of wine PER WEEK. That is about 3 glasses of wine per week. Now, at the expense of sounding like a total addict; I work hard and at the end of the day, I like to have an alcoholic beverage or two (or three) and wind down. I will give up beer for 3 weeks. Sure. Sorry, beer that is about to sit in my fridge forever. But, I’m keeping my wine. I will cut it down, but I can’t see myself only drinking 3 glasses of wine in a week. Not to mention that it would start to turn! Eeep! Just, no bueno. Not happening. Throwing that out there right now.
Anyway, I plan on otherwise following it to a T, besides the dressing/wine things. So, if you want to talk about it or follow me or whatever, feel free! I would love to swap stories with other people who are doing it. I will be posting updates every now and then!
