I just want to throw it out there that I think that the media (and really, anyone who shared this picture yesterday saying terrible things about him) owes this man an apology. Yesterday his brother, Adam Lanza, was responsible for taking the lives of 27 people- including his own mother and himself. What Adam did is horrible and inexcusable and I can’t even comprehend the pain that the victims’ families are going through. But, Ryan Lanza is going through it, too. He just lost his mother and his brother in one day. And just because Adam carried Ryan’s ID with him while he committed this terrible crime, Ryan’s photo got shared over fifteen thousand times yesterday telling him that he’s going to rot in hell and that he deserves to die, etc, etc. And those were just the shares… I can’t even imagine how many messages he received yesterday with a similar sentiment. Losing a family member is hard enough without the shame that he must feel over what his brother has done, and I would like to personally apologize to him for being yet another person who let his name escape my lips yesterday before anyone had gotten the story straight. Ryan, people are going to be terrible to you about this because some people just need to take their anger out on someone and unfortunately for you, CNN pretty much turned your name into a punching bag yesterday. But I hope that you and all of the other families of the victims are able to find some peace soon. Let’s give Ryan some love, people. This wasn’t his fault.
