I made this tonight with a sharpie.
Anis Mojgani :: Shake The Dust
The bedroom is a morgue,
the bed, a slotcar race.
I stare at the mattress
making circles out of it’s corners.
Memories are an empty house whose windows
we throw rocks inside of to hear the echoes.
The moon is a son of a bitch.
The sun, a mean, mean old star.
The stars are tombstones.
The constellations, the graveyard whose arms
bend down to carry the skin of dead animals.
We lay petals across their feet.
The flowers all speak the same name…
The telephone is a mask-
the telephone call, a mistake.
The conversation is a knife fight,
the rooftop, an alternative to heaven.
Love is a broken vase whose shape
everyone remembers differently.
I place the petals in a box.
The flowers all speak the same name…
Ireland is a lie.
Los Angeles, a theft.
Chicago, an executioner out of boredom.
Detroit, a factory making hope out of drunkenness.
Portland is a hole I am trying to dig my way out of.
The city of Eugene, a conman who took my shovel.
Your wrist is a war I am afraid of losing.
The unicorn is not a lie, the unicorn is real.
It’s skin is not white- it’s skin is blue.
Your wrists are a war I am afraid of losing.
Christmas is a guillotine,
February, it’s sharpening stone.
Bath water, an embrace.
The back is a duck pond.
The back, the Buddha,
the back bones,
the songs it sings out of it’s body.
Behind the ear sits Krishna,
eating an apple.
The mouth is an orchard,
the teeth, cherries.
Your lips, a monestary.
Your kiss, a rosary.
Your voice, a big man I would follow over any mountain.
My eyelids are closet doors.
Your eyes, a shade of blue that matches
a flock of leaping horses.
My eyes are skeletons trying to find
a hanger of skin to hang themselves off of.
I am wearing a coat of knives.
Just try to hold me.
Just try… to hold me.
Just try and hold me.
"You’re going to discover that
conversations are best at 4 am
The heavier the eyelids, the sincerer the words
Those are the talks you’ll remember
It’s ok not to know the answer and silence is not awkwardIt’s shared,
"
so share it more often than not
